So now what?
Well, now you need a plan. You definitely don’t want to spend your day on twitter, it can be time consuming so you have to come up with a plan.
To ease up your Twitter experience, I suggest a tool like Hootsuite. It will help you see what’s going on at a glance: your home feed, people that mention your name (@), people that send you a private message (DM), ….etc, and you can also save searches in a new column. That can be helpful to get into conversations in your area of “expertise”. Another helpful feature is the ability to schedule your tweets which can be good for many reasons: when you’re sleeping, when you’re live, when you’re out and about….to keep your twitter world awake even when you’re gone .
Now the plan?
You’ll find yours I’m sure. The one that fits your goal but if you need a start, here’s a little Twitter program you can follow everyday…yes EVERY DAY.- Tweet a list 5 times a day
Tweet an image(twitpic), a video(twitvideo), an event, a quote, …anything - Tweet spontaneously
Tweet some more but with whatever you want that is not in your plan. Just be spontaneous, whatever comes to your mind. You can post them anytime, you can schedule them for later…anything. - Track and measure
See what happens when you tweet. Who’s following you, who replied, who sent you a private message, who’s talking about you…and replies ALWAYS. Hootsuite allows you to see some stats about your tweets. - Follow your followers and unfollow the others
Seems obvious but yes you want to follow people that follows you and you definitely want to unfollow all the ones and unfollows you. A nice tool to follow back automatically: Socialoomph. It allows you to follow back automatically and send DM message automatically to your new followers. Saves some time trust me:)
So to Tweet or not to Tweet…definitely! Tomorrow there will be probably something else, something new, something different but for now Twitter is the social network you want to use…for your own benefit of course.ou and being able to reply.
